Shark Or Bear – Its A Killer Website

By Paul Kenjora | October 27, 2007

Getting eaten alive by a shark. Out in the middle of the ocean, its a great white, cause of death can vary: blood loss, drowning, blunt trauma, shock, hypothermia, or just getting bitten in half. Bears have claws and teeth. They tend to maul people removing chunks of flesh, gouging body parts, and pretty much crushing you to death. Cause of death is a grizzly bear. Those two gut wrenching options for death spawned an entire site that makes you think hard about your worst fears.

Death is the topic of the new community called SHARKORBEAR.COM. The point is to post and discuss various options for death. Yeah its sounds grim but its quite fun once you get into it. My friend and I came up with it a few days back, we talked for hours about some of the posts. It was a nice insight into what people fear most. I was intrigued by how tough some of the choices were.

Functionally its a community for anyone. You can post your own stories, vote on other peoples posts, leave plus rate comments, and keep a tally of who voted for which fate. I’ve posted a few and sent them out to friends, its spurred alot of discussion.

The site is located at: SHARKORBEAR.COM

SHARKORBEAR.COM is styled with a simple intuitive interface. The goal is to make the discussion of topics easy and eye pleasing. This is a purely fun project so we don’t expect anyone to take it seriously. I’m hoping it will become one of those sites you hit at work between meetings.

The neatest and most original piece of SHARKORBEAR.COM is the one click copy and paste feature on every posting. Simply navigate to a posting you like, click copy, then paste it into any other posting. The two are now linked. Hopefully this will make users more involved in story linking.

Keep an eye out for OpenID support, FaceBook applets, and possibly some cool widgets so you can post your favorite articles to your own blog. Enjoy…

  • I chose shark, the bear stuff is way too harsh. Besides cold water drowning is better than dying of blunt trauna in the woods.
